The Gleaming Exterior Architecture of EMP

We simply loved Experience Music Project in Seattle. It is an interactive music museum enclosed in a futuristic and beautiful Frank O. Gehry and Associates designed building. I love the fluid lines of the exterior as well as the interior. EMP was Erin and Toni's favorite attraction in Seattle. They both thought it was one of the coolest things ever.

The Stairway to the Main Level

The first display we saw was a giant tower of guitars that Erin thought was absolutely great. It was quite impressive indeed.

Toni and Erin got MEG players, digital devices that play additional dialog and music as you view the displays. I didn't get one because I was too busy taking pictures as usual. They loved the MEGs. Toni wanted to listen to every bit of material and read every display; so much so, that we spent six hours at EMP!

The Guitar Gallery was neat. It showcases the evolution of the guitar from the 1770s to the present. There are actual guitars on display along with a video presentation of famous stars playing guitars in a variety of genres.

One of the coolest and most enjoyable exhibits is the Digital Lab, where visitors get to play keyboards, drums and guitars. Toni loved the keybords and Erin loved the drums the best.

If that wasn't enough, there were exhibits tributing the Beatles, Jimi Hendrix and Nirvana. There were also costumes and memoribilia including outfits worn by Britney Spears, KISS, Michael Jackson, Beyonce, Kurt Cobain, Christina Aguilera, Jimi Hendrix and many others. There were so many things to see and do, we were challenged to experience it all in one day!

The Turntable Restaurant on the first floor of the Experience Music Project was a fun and delicious place to eat. We all enjoyed our food very much. I had the French Dip, Toni had the Fish and Chips and Erin had the New York Thin Crust Cheese Pizza. Toni and I shared the Green Fried Tomatoes appetizer. It was absolutely yummy! We had never tried fried green tomatoes before, so this was a treat for us. It came with a black-eyed pea slaw and a bottle of Tapatio Hot Sauce. I loved it and would recommend it highly. It was a refreshing change to experience a really good restaurant at a tourist attraction. Not only was the food tasty, you can watch rock and roll videos on plasma flat panel televisions as you dine!
