Macrina Bakery & Cafe at Queen Anne
After Erin and I got up at 4:00 am to get those early morning Seattle skyline pictures from Kerry Park, we decided to check out a neat bakery I had read about in Queen Anne called Macrina Bakery & Cafe. We arrived at the bakery at about 6:30 am, but was disappointed to find they didn't open until 8:00 am on Sundays. I was told by a worker to come back to try their morning rolls, a swirl of yeasted croissant dough sweetened with vanilla sugar & baked to a golden brown. The smells emanating from the restaurant along with the sight of freshly baked breads in the window taunted me. So, we decided to go back to the hotel to return with Toni.
We returned to Macrina at 10:00 am to be greeting with a throng of patrons. I was so dissapointed to find that the morning rolls had gone very quickly and none were to be had. So, I had quiche, which was very good, Toni had an apple tart and Erin had a low fat banana ginger mufin. Their coffee and cafe mocha were very good. We enjoyed our breakfast. It was yummy.

Macrina Bakery & Cafe Cookbook
Undaunted, I was determined to try the morning rolls in some manner. I found they had a signed Macrina Bakery & Cafe Cookbook containing the recipe for their famous morning rolls along with many other goodies. So, I purchased a copy for my cookbook collection and hope to try them in my own kitchen soon. :)
