How About Those Red Sox!
Thursday, 21 Oct 2004 | Sports
Was that the most exciting League Championship Series ever or what? The Boston Red Sox have written two pages in the MLB history books. They were the first team to force an LCS seventh game after a 0-3 deficit. And now they have become the first team to come back to win after a 0-3 deficit.
We had four and five hour games, Curt Schilling pitching with a bloodied sock, grand slams, extra innings, Alex Rodriguez slapping the ball from Arroyo's hand in desperation, fans throwing balls on the field, NYPD police poised in riot gear and history making wins. Could the World Series be nearly as fantastic?
Originally, I was upset with the Sox for beating the Anaheim Angels in the Division Series, but I've gained a new respect for them and hope they go all the way. Speaking of going all the way, will they finally break the Curse of the Bambino this year, something they have not been able to do since 1918? I hope so, but I wonder if they are just too tired out from this comeback. Well, time will tell.
