It's Africa Hot!
Wednesday, 13 Jul 2005 | Daily, Rants
You know it's pretty darned hot when you say to yourself, "It hasn't been that bad this summer. It's only been about 113 degrees lately."
You see, I work in Palm Springs, California where it gets unbelievably hot in the summer. The forecast shows an expected high of 120 degrees (48 C) for Palm Springs today. And don't tell me about it being a dry heat. I know, it does make a difference if it's really humid, but I assure you it's hot at 120 degrees no matter what.
I can't wait until next month when I can cool off in Hawaii during the hottest part of the summer in Palm Springs where it can get to temperatures reaching over 120 degrees at times.

It's always so strange to stumble upon someone's blog and find out how much we have in common. My hubby and I are possibly moving to Murrieta (from Rancho Cucamonga) in the next 3 months and I did a search on Flickr for Murrieta photos. I kept seeing your pictures and loved them. After that, the similarities kept coming:
You take pictures of birds (I do too and my hubby has become obsessed with "birding" lately), you love Disneyland (we have season passes), you love photography (me too!), you are a believer (I read Greg Laurie's devotional every day and we go to Crossroads in Corona). So neat to "meet" you in cyberspace.
I just wanted to let you know that your photos are incredible and now that I've found them, I plan on looking through all of them when I have more time (we're currently preparing our house for sale).
So how do you like Murrieta? Any pros and cons of living there? We're excited about moving but nervous at the same time. I've lived near the mountains my whole life (La Verne and Rancho Cucamonga) so I'm going to miss that. We love going to San Diego, so it will be nice to be closer than we used to be.
Keep up the fantastic photography! :-)

I like the heading you have for this post, hehehe!
When we were living in Arizona, it was sooo horrible!! But now that we're in 80 degree weather, I still complain... it's humid too! ;P
I hope you're able to cool off, Michael!

uffff, 120F? i've never experienced temps above 38C (100F)... when i get to my parents' in indonesia or portugal, i always end up spending a few days sitting in my room with the AC on.
i second kathya's wish for you: hope you can cool off somehow.

Shari - It's nice to meet someone with things in common with me. Toni and I love Murrieta because the weather is milder than Riverside and the air is almost always free from smog. I think you'll enjoy living in Murrieta. Plus, it's a much easier drive to San Diego than from Rancho Cucamonga.
Kathya - I remember a business trip to Phoenix, Arizona where it was 100 degrees at midnight! I am so thankful that it gets cool at night in Murrieta. I don't want to live in Palm Springs because it stays pretty hot at night like Phoenix. I actually love doing things on cool summer nights. I find it so pleasant and love to drive with my moonroof open to let in the cool breeze.
yasmina - Thanks for the cool wishes. I'll try to do my best until Hawaii calls next month. :)
