Eye Exam

Today I went to my optometrist for a check-up eye examination. My prescription is virtually the same except for a very small change in the astigmatism in one eye. I don't really need to get new glasses since the difference would not improve my vision demonstrably.
They performed a field vision test where you click a button each time you see a small flashing light. It tests your peripheral vision individually for each eye. My right eye tested very well, but my left eye result was not good. My optometrist wants me to come back in a week to retest. I have known for a few years that it is likely I will develop glaucoma, so I go to an opthamologist periodically to have it checked. I will need to schedule another doctor visit soon.
I've worn glasses since I was 9 years old and wish I could have Lasik to correct my vision, but my eye condition doesn't make me a good candidate. I've worn extended wear contacts in the past, but they tend to dry and fatigue my eyes too much with the computer work I do. It would be wonderful to wake up and see things clearly without reaching for my glasses. And it would be so much easier to see through my camera viewfinder. It's difficult to see the image well because I can't put my eye right up to the viewfinder. Corrected vision would be nice, but I realize it's probably not in the cards for me. *sigh*
I have one lens which is scratched currently. I will have the lenses replaced with a non-glare set. I also want to order a pair of prescription sunglasses. I've never had a pair of sunglasses customized for my eyes, so I'm really looking forward to it.
