Pandora

I came across a very neat music site today called Pandora. It lets you set up personalized radio stations that are tailored to your musical tastes. It's really cool and it's free!

Basically, you select an artist or song you like and Pandora suggests songs you may enjoy based on your choice. Then while each song plays, you tell Pandora if you like or do not like the song and it adjusts future selections based on your input. You can also guide Pandora by adding new artists and songs so it can do an even better job of selecting music tailored just for you.

You can save favorite songs to a list and even send an email to a friend with a link to the radio stations you've created. If you discover a song you really like, it will link you to Amazon.com or iTunes so you can purchase it.

Pandora is great for just listening to music, but it introduces you to new music too. It's really a nice concept that's well executed.

last.fm is also a great site for that with similar features. It provides a plugin for iTunes and creates a list of music that you have listened to recently. Then it uses this list to recommend new bands for you to check out. You also get your own radio station of artists you already listen to combined with music on your recommendation list. It's pretty cool.

Marissa - Thanks for the tip. I'll have to check last.fm out. I really like how you can show your recent listening patterns through their site. :)
